I spent last week with a group of brilliant engineers who were unfortunately misguided in their attempt to design a training program which was going to be rolled out to more than 9000 employees. Instead of identifying learning objectives and planning interactive exercises, the engineers decided to develop more than 150 PowerPoint slides with leader’s notes. The plan was to “lecture” until all of the slides were seen by the audience. The plan didn’t work and now the engineers are revising the training. It doesn’t matter how smart you are, there comes a time when we all need help. Please ask for help BEFORE you spend countless hours designing hundreds of PowerPoint slides.
